What to Expect for the OET
Listening: OET The listening task evaluates the candidates on the basis of their concentration, discernment, and understanding of the English language in a medical context. The topics are of generic healthcare interest, including consultation, presentation, interview, etc.
Reading: OET reading is designed to evaluate your ability to skim, scan, and comprehend English-language texts. The OET Reading Task aims to evaluate you based on your reading comprehension and how well you discern the essence of the text. Rapid reading skills, along with close reading and analysis, are evaluated, and you need to practise to complete the reading module within the required time.
Writing: The assignment is created to replicate the practical requirements of a health professional’s career, and it involves the process of selecting information and producing a letter in a constrained amount of time. The goal is to make it so that medical professionals can quickly and effectively find important information in a written document.
Speaking: The OET Speaking Test evaluates your verbal communication skills. It assesses whether you can communicate effectively in real-life situations, especially in a clinical setting.
To pass this test, you must demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills in listening comprehension, speaking fluency, and negotiation strategies.
